1st Degree – Studentship
(A Year in a Day minimum – requires approval by all inner court members of the coven)
- Completion of the Year and A Day Training syllabus and all assignments and classes provided by the inner court of the Coven.
- 1st Degree classes are developed to meet the student at the level they can begin with and outlined in a way that particular student can manage.
- A list of the topics and outline of a learning syllabus will be posted here to provide more information soon.
2nd Degree
(no time limit)
- 6 month study of a specific topic and leading a class
- Being capable of teaching – 3 class minimum
- Writing rituals and setup entire space (altar, cleansing, etc. with explanation) – 3 rituals minimum (at least 1 Sabbat, 1 Esbat, 3rd is a choice)
- Complete setup of altars – 3 styles (can pantheon based, solar altar, lunar altar)
- Should demonstrate capability to stand in for squire, page, warder, and maiden
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in one particular pantheon
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in one particular form of divination
- Independently found, read, and reported on a book or similar resource
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of a particular spell form (healing, money spell, protection, etc.)
- Mentor with 3rd degree student on particular expertise (can be any subject)
- Participate in the teaching of a student (1st degree initiate)
- Must demonstrate ability to lead group meditations
3rd degree
(no time limit – requires a year and a day as 2nd degree and council approval)
- Mentor 2nd degree student
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in 3 particular pantheons
- Demonstrated proficiency to stand in for High Priest or High Priestess in rituals
- Write three of each of the following all of which will be added to the Coven Book of Shadows:
- 3 Sabbat Rituals (performance of at least 2 as High Priest/High Priestess role)
- 3 Esbat Rituals (performance of at least 2 as High Priest/High Priestess roles)
- 3 Spells (different types)
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in 2 divination tools
- Ability to council, advise, and teach members of the coven
- Ability to represent coven at community functions
- Research/presentation/documentation of specific knowledge area to contribute to coven library
- Have and maintain a personal Book of Shadows (proof of this must be presented to council/or specific council member if 3rd degree initiate desires limited audience).
- Participation in Drawing Down the Sun or Moon ritual
- Craft of at least one personal altar item and setup wards and guardians for personal home space or assist in defensive magick/clearing of a house, etc.
- Participate in coven energy raising and serve as focal (egg charging, etc.)
Page and Squire
- Requires application, selection, and acceptance by High Priest and High Priestess and council
- Will have completed 1st degree criteria
Maiden and Warder
- Requires application, selection, and acceptance by High Priest and High Priestess and council
- Have served as Page and Squire for at least 6 months
- Will have completed 2nd degree criteria
- Considered High Priestess/High Priest “In training”
- Will conduct training with High Priest/High Priestess in order to keep role
- Responsible for training of Page and Squire
